Zaheer Khan Announces His International Retirement

India seamer Zaheer Khan has announced his retirement from international and first-class cricket. He will, however, continue to play in the IPL for one more season.
With 610 international wickets, Zaheer finishes as one of India's most successful bowlers, being the fourth-highest wicket-taker for India across formats. He has the second-highest wickets tally - 311 - for an India seamer in Tests, behind Kapil Dev's 434. Zaheer, though, played few international matches in recent years after being dogged by injuries. An injury he sustained to his bowling arm in May 2014 had put him out of action for a long time, although he managed to play seven games in this year's IPL.
While his final Test was against New Zealand in Wellington early last year, his last ODI was more than three years ago, against Sri Lanka in Pallekele. He ends his international career with 92 Tests, 200 ODIs and 17 T20Is to his name.
In a statement, Zaheer thanked his team-mates in the various sides he played for, and said his greatest moment was winning the World Cup in 2011. "Cricket has been my only life over the past two decades and is in fact the only thing I know well. Cricket has made me the individual that I am, giving me everything in life and much more. I walk away with fantastic memories, life-defining experiences and great friendships. My mother summarised it well in reaction to my decision: "Theek hain, bahut acchha safar tha hamara" (fair enough, I had a wonderful journey).
He traced his journey "as a kid from the small town of Shrirampur (Maharashtra)" to his stint at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore in 1996 and at the MRF Pace Academy to his eventual debut for India in 2000. Referring to a favourite newspaper headline, he hinted at his future plans, saying, "Zak is back' is perhaps a headline that may come my way again as I have every intention of giving back to this game."
Zaheer finishes his Test career with an average of 32.94 and ODI career with 282 wickets at 29.43. After his international debut in 2000, his most prominent performance in Tests came on the England tour of 2007 when he finished with 18 wickets at an average of 20.33. In ODIs, he played a vital role as the leader of the pace attack during India's victorious 2011 World Cup campaign with 21 wickets to finish as the join-highest wicket-taker.
"He feels with a hurt shoulder he cannot bowl at his best for him to perform at international level consistently, so he has decided to call it a day," Zaheer's mentor Sudhir Naik told ESPNcricinfo.
"He served Indian cricket with remarkable passion and commitment," BCCI preisdent Shashank Manohar said in a release. "Being a fast bowler in the Indian sub continent is challenging but he led the bowling attack with distinction and contributed significantly to the success of Indian cricket .I wish him all the best for the future.

Virender Sehwag Retires From All Kinds Of Cricket

Former India opener Virender Sehwag has announced his retirement from international cricket and the Indian Premier League on his 37th birthday.
Sehwag, who won the World Cup with India in 2011, played 104 Tests, 251 one-day and 19 Twenty20 internationals.
He scored 8,586 Test runs at an average of 49.34 and is the only Indian to score an international triple century.
He will continue to play first-class cricket, saying he "still has the hunger inside", and will try to help young players coming through.
Sehwag, who had a spell with Leicestershire in 2003, has not played for India since 2013.

USA Crashes Out Despite 18 Runs win Over Hong Kong

Victory over Papua New Guinea on Sunday (July 19) would have helped United States of America qualify for the next phase of the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier 2015 had Hong Kong lost its last league match of the competition to Namibia.
But as it turned out, despite an 18-run win at Malahide in Dublin, USA crashed out of the tournament as Hong Kong completed a comprehensive 83-run rout of Namibia over at the neighbouring Clontarf Cricket Club Ground. The win could take USA only to fifth in the Group A table with six points - one less than PNG, Namibia and Hong Kong, all of whom, along with Ireland (8 points), are through to the next stage of the tournament.

Canada Cricket pick Hiral Patel after Dutta opts for CPL

Canada Cricket offspinner Nikhil Dutta, who has chosen to remain in the Caribbean Premier League with the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, has been replaced by Hiral Patel in the squad for the ICC World T20 Qualifier beginning next week in Ireland and Scotland. Dutta's absence is a big blow for Canada - he was their leading wicket-taker at the ICC Americas Division One T20 tournament in May with 12 wickets at an average of 9.41 and an economy rate of 4.91.
Even though Cricket Canada received clearance from the ICC to replace Dutta with the hard-hitting Patel, Dutta may face obstacles regarding his involvement with the Patriots for the duration of the CPL season. According to ESPNcricinfo sources, the board has attempted to revoke Dutta's 'No Objection Certificate' to play in the CPL after he stated his desire to keep playing for the Patriots rather than join the 15-man squad in Scotland, for which he was originally selected.

Australia Vs Bangladesh Series Called Off

Australia's two-Test tour to Bangladesh remained on hold Wednesday with players returning to their home states after new warnings about security in the south Asian nation. Cricket Australia delayed the departure of the Test team on Sunday after receiving advice from foreign ministry officials that militants may be planning attacks on Australian interests in the country.
"There has been no change to the situation or our current position. While we're waiting for a decision, players have been asked to re-join their state training programs," a Cricket Australian official told AFP via email.
Bangladesh have insisted that the players will be given the level of security usually reserved for visiting heads of state, with Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan saying the "highest security protocol" would be provided. But the death of an Italian aid worker in Dhaka's diplomatic quarter -- shot three times on Monday night by attackers who fled on a motorcycle in a murder claimed by Islamic State group -- has escalated safety fears. International schools in Bangladesh were closed on Tuesday while Western embassies restricted their diplomats' movements.
The British Foreign Office has warned against attending gatherings of westerners in Bangladesh due to "reliable information" militants may be planning to target western interests. The US embassy in Dhaka said its diplomats would be barred from attending international hotels and advised citizens to follow suit.
"There is reliable new information to suggest that militants may be planning to target Australian interests in Bangladesh," the embassy said in a security message. Such attacks, should they occur, could likely affect other foreigners , including US citizens."
Australian team officials travelled back from the Bangladesh capital on Tuesday after talks with senior security and intelligence figures, including Khan. They were expected to meet with Australian foreign ministry officials Wednesday as well as Cricket Australia's board, management and players.Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hassan, who also met with the Australian officials early this week, said the delayed departure of Steve Smith's team had been very disappointing.
"There is no risk for them in Bangladesh," Hassan told reporters Monday.
With the first Test scheduled to start on October 9, Australia's World Cup football qualifier against Bangladesh in Dhaka on November 17 could also be at risk.
